A long macro, with a decent range, exceptionnal image quality and a very attractive price tag. Trust me, I was not disappointed and it came out to be more that I expected. Maximum format: 35mm full frame. At macro distances, the effect is considerably more pronounced in appearance. In most cases this will not be an issue, as I only notice it when trying to catch moving subjects (Kids) indoors. Initial results were disappointing. I love it !!! For the moment, I'm experimenting with this lens and a 2.0x converter from Sigma. Unlike the many of the new GV lenses, the EX series lenses have plastic casings with a gold ring similar to G series Nikkor lenses. The hood mounts and locks in place very solidly, probably due to all the friction from the coating. Personally, Im quite fond of how it renders the bokeh but the limitation to how soft the bokeh can become keeps it from achieving the sweet, glorious, buttery bokeh that a 70-200 f/2.8 (at 200mm) or a 135mm f/2.0 can create. The only negative, and this is picky, is the rubber type focusing ring tends to bleach out a little over the years. The 150 probably just has the edge in sharpness but its effective depth of field is notably smaller, which makes it harder to get focus where you want it. However it is really good at bugs and flowers, and they are surprisingly fun to shoot. Note: The link in the first sentence shows an incorrect aperture (f/2 instead of f/8). Combined, these two factors make it handy for when trying to capture macro images of creatures that can be easily disturbed.
