Together, they get over their differences, and he helps train her, while she helps him get promoted to Master Rider. Veronyka learns that not even the Phoenix Riders are perfect, as they refuse to recruit girls, and female phoenixes are forced to be breeders. In the midst of this sticky situation, the army finds the Riders and marches to destroy their stronghold. By this I am saying it did not draw me into the story like a good book should, it felt more like reading a text book. It's been awhile since I've read a book that could make me happy, triumphant, sad, and angry all at the same time. The beginning of the book seemed more of a fantasy history lesson than an actual story. She will read these books for hours. I honestly didn't care about anything because I was so freaking bored. An affinity with animals isn't a new power idea as such but for it to be the protagonists main power and for the book to identify the good and bad ways it can be used felt very refreshing. You should definitely read this book if you havent yet.
